Riding Nightmares every-DAY
The working women in the urban cities of Pakistan who support their families use the local bus transport for the daily travelling since it is the cheapest option available. It might be cheap but it is hell scary for the women. And with them are female students who also can not afford the luxuries of a car with driver or taxi/rickshaw everyday.
Despite being allotted a separate compartment which is next to the driver seat and some part behind, the women are helpless. The physical and mental torture they go through everyday is no worse than a nightmare. The uncivilized driving of the bus driver, ignorance of the conductor to women complains and the stares from the male passengers is extremely annoying. Apart from this, loud and vulgar music through out the journey adds fuel to the fire. All women belonging to their respective families are sisters, daughters and mothers to someone, and for men who make their lives miserable should also understand the fact that even they have these relations in their family sitting at home or some other bus probably, because for me what goes around comes around.
In some cases, the male passengers use vulgar and abusive language sitting close to the female half of the bus which is highly unethical. On the other hand taking pictures of ladies sitting or standing in case where no seats are available, is a shame and a disgrace. Intentionally touching the grill is just an excuse to touch the bodies of the women. The women find them completely helpless when even the conductor does not listen to them and uses the female compartment to get to the male section when clearly there is an outside gate available.
This is too much. Some action has to be taken to protect the women who on the first place are on the bus because their lives are already troubled. There is an anti harassment act which is provided to help the women on registering the complaints. I am not sure how effectively it is being used but to my knowledge it is not working. Some major changes have to be brought in. Lets start with the female compartment which in my opinion should be at the back of the bus so the males who sit in front find it hard to turn their necks around all the time only to stare. The partition should not be see through. It has to be separated by steel sheets rather than steel bars to prevent the men to see each and every women and their actions and reactions on the mess they cause for them everyday. Lastly, more space to be allotted to the women even if they are not enough they should be given equal space because one never knows it might get crowded anytime and if it does, women should have a fair share.
As far as the major changes are concerned, I do not see that happening in Pakistan in the next 10 years but still i would like to propose. Separate buses for women, with women conductors and expert drivers with a competitive salary. It might rise some costs for the travelling women but i believe they will be ready to bear it since the opportunity cost which is the mental and physical torture is remarkably higher than some extra rupees. The infrastructure definitely requires massive changes. Building new roads and creating room for extra buses because the number of buses we have today are clearly not serving the large population we have. It requires time, effort, honesty and willingness by the people who run our country only then it can happen and i hope that day comes very soon. Amen

Twitter

Twitter which was created by Obvious, a 10-person start up in San Francisco is one of the most popular social networking website along with Facebook. Facebook currently has more users because of its deep personal interactions with the users. It includes chats, events, photo gallery shaping it up more like a personal resume. On the other hand Twitter  acts as an "RSS reader" in which to users are shown short messages from the people they following. They can select exactly what and from whom they want to hear. Group of users on Twitter consists mostly from professionals which are promoting business (a teenager can read about Lady Gaga’s new costume). Few people use Twitter as a personal page where they can post “Today I had fun with friends” , but this is not regular because of the Facebook personal approach.
Twitter has more than 200 million accounts and is a part of an elite social group. The summers of 2011 was highly influential when Twitter itself raised $ 400 million from private investors. It was led by the Russian Billionaire Yuri Milner. Twitter’s rapid growth as a social networking site includes its use in Iran to organize protest against the disputed presidential elections. This is where this site earned some heavy respect. Twitter’s partnership with one of the most leading firms in world market, Apple is on the verge but nothing is disclosed since no agreement has been reached. Once it does its all set to shock the world.

Double Injustice
The Hillsborough disaster was a human crush which occurred during the semi-final FA Cup tie between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest football clubs on 15 April 1989 at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England. The crush resulted in the deaths of 94 people on the day and it eventually reached 96 with the deaths of two more victims in hospital, with a total of 766 other persons being injured. All of them were Fans of Liverpool Football Club. Hillsborough Disaster remains the deadliest stadium-related disaster in British history and one of the worst accidents ever in International football.

Not only the lives of Liverpool fans were lost but even the blame of the disaster was put on them. The South Yorkshire Police suggested that the main factors leading to the disasters were

1. High consumption of alcohol by the Liverpool fans
2. Fans attempting to gain entry without tickets or with forgeries
Today on 12th September 2012, The Hillsborough independent panel has reached a conclusion by disclosing it in a 400 page document. The document states that not even a single Liverpool fan was involved in what to led to the disaster. The main cause was the lack of Police Control. This report has shocked the Britain as families who were involved finally learn the shocking truth behind the tragedy. The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has apologized to the families of grieving families of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough disaster, and confirmed that there was and is no evidence to support of allegations of exceptional levels of drunken-ness, ticketless-ness or violence among Liverpool fans. Cameron said "On behalf of the government and indeed our country, I am profoundly sorry for this double injustice that has been uncorrected for so long."
Nothing can be done and nothing can be changed but today the families of the 96 dead and hundreds injured have been given justice. They can rest and sleep in peace now.

Win Means World
I do not find much tennis fans here in Pakistan but those who follow definitely have a good taste in sport. Sport is about winning and losing, the titles the cash but one thing which makes it extra special is the emotions involved. You just can not put a price to it.
Last night, the final between Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic was a mouthwatering final. It was the US Open, a Grand Slam final and Andy won the match in five sets. He clinched his first major Grand Slam. Andy, who represents the British and currently ranks number 3 in the world, was against Novak, Serbian and 2nd in the world. The match was not interesting because two giants were out there fighting for glory; it had something more when Andy lifted the trophy. He was previously criticized by everyone especially in his own country who apparently loves football, cricket and rugby, never gave much importance to tennis. Winning that trophy was a perfect answer to silence the critics. The last British man to win a Grand Slam title was Fred Perry, who won the US Open in 1936, 76 years ago. Fred Perry is also a major brand name for sport goods named after him. But now its the Andy Murray time. I am not saying brands will come out after his name but what i mean is that critics have nothing to say about him as a player now. Nothing about the tennis sport. The British critics can find something new. I hope his win encourages the youth of England to get on with this game. To have faith in tennis as a sport. With the same commitment they have for football, cricket and rugby.
As for the final Andy Murray's nerve-mangling, history-making win over Novak represented many different things as I said before. One of the greatest finals of the modern era; a late night thriller from a city that never sleeps; a breath taking demonstration of physical strength and mental fortitude and to make it perfect was the end, something what British sport never believed in and something they will not ever forget.
After winning the title Andy spoke to the British media "It is what I have been working towards for the last 10 years of my life, It means the world to me”.

See to EAT !
Pakistan apparently is a food loving nation. A part of our history and culture which was once India includes the blend of spices for which the sub continent is known for. With high political instability, the news channels lead the way as the most watched programs in television. But in recent years this is not the case. The house arrest women in Pakistan also known as house wives have switched their attention to the cooking channels. They simply love it. They would even fight with their husbands in case where the household possess only a single television set and I do not blame them. Men should realize and appreciate on what is being shown on those channels is way better than what our news channels show. God forbid their wives leave them then they will be the ones who will end up watching those cooking shows.
Cooking channels in Pakistan is a new culture which is not only important for the house wives but equally important for working women and independent males living in the country. These channels are in some way  educating the women of Pakistan who mainly are not exposed to the practical life outside, about food which can be made at home and eaten all over the world. In addition, they also tell about the presentation of food, which matters a lot. Other than teaching cooking, the experts on these channels also give useful tips related to food and their worth. In short, Cooking channels serve as a cooking school for their viewers, who learn food making even sitting at their homes. The number of food cooking channels has not only serve the women but has given a boost to the economy as well. I certainly do not believe it has harm the restaurant business because for me the channels have created awareness and has taken the love of food to a new level. People now realize and understand the quality of food given to them. The competition has risen among the restaurants and numerous jobs have been created in that department. Also not to forget in the media as well. People who only lived to eat can now live AND see to eat !

Guth-KHA
Earlier this year, The Provincial Sindh Government under Qaim Ali Shah imposed a ban on the production and manufacturing of Gutka and Mainpuri. Gutka - a heady form of chewing tobacco made of crushed betel nut, nicotine and laced with thousands of chemicals. Some of the chemicals in some brands of gutka are also used in tile cleaners and battery acids. Gutka everyday is becoming popular among the likes of young and adults. More people in Pakistan smoke but soon the gutka can take its position if no serious action is taken. The step by the Sindh Government included charges of Rs.20,000 and 6 month jail for people who are caught with manufacturing and selling what some might say as 'path to death'. Apparently it has not worked out. The biggest reason i would say is the corruption inside the police department. Most of our policeman are addicted to gutka themselves so they find it easy to settle the drama with the guilty by the famous Bhatta (bribe) policy. On the other hand we have manufacturers who think they live in a democratic nation and not under dictatorship are finding it very easy to produce and supply it to the markets. The profit margin is definitely very high to all the parties involved except the consumer. India has the most number of gutka consumers in the world and a recent study from WHO showed Asia’s third-largest economy battles almost 80,000 new cases of oral cancer yearly. The treatment of tobacco-related diseases cost more than $5 billion in 2002-2003. I do not have figures on Pakistan but i very much do know they are not that far as compared to the size of the population and economy with respect to India. For Pakistan its better to lift the ban because i believe as much as you stop someone from doing it, the person does it more. Let it be open. We do not have the honesty and dedication in our leading departments. People will have it and they will suffer, only then they will realize what a piece of crap they were having. Kha Gutka Kha. !

WAQAR BOLT
Guys i just do not believe this but Usain Bolt has recently admired the Pakistani Legendary Fast Bowler, Waqar Younis as his favourite cricketer of all time. Well, Usain Bolt is currently the fastest man on earth. He has 6 Gold Medals on his neck, just won one at the London Olympics 2012. He has more fans all over the world than Waqar himself but honestly if he thinks Waqar is one of the best, than this guy clearly has some knowledge on Cricket. By the way why wouldn't he? He belongs to Jamica which also has produced number of talents in Cricket History under the West Indies flag. West Indies is no nation. They become a nation or represent the countries which are Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Antiagua & Barbuda, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, Netherlands Antilles for cricket only since they have a wicket on their flag. In an interview Usain said The person I looked up to was Waqar Younis because he had a great in-swinging yorker. He was wonderful. Pakistan was my team when I was six when I started watching cricket. I enjoyed watching them play,”.
It is a great thing when someone like Usain Bolt admires the talent our country has. It is breath taking. Sadly we do not operate on our maximum potential. Because if we do. We are a super power in the making. I just feel sometimes that there is something big stopping us and it has to be dealt with. I love you all.

An Apple a day, keeps Samsung away

Right now there is nothing more interesting than the Samsung Apple wars. The US court gave the decision in favor of Apple for which Samsung has to pay $1 billion in damages. However Apple has not won the trials in other countries they filed against the South Korean owned company. This clearly is nepotism from US courts to US owned companies. USA has always been like that for example they give the best car of the year to Dodge or Chevrolet and most of their movies make fun of Toyota Prius which is literally the best selling car because of its fuel efficiency. Samsung is giving some serious competition to Apple recently who thought they were going to have most of the market share. Samsung is making more powerful and better smart phones than Apple plus they offer a large variety of models to select from. An exciting rumor has been spread through out the world that Samsung has sent 30 trucks full of 5 cents coins to settle the billion dollar payment they owe Apple in damages. If this turns out to be true, i am going to be so happy. Samsung will be legends for me. This is the way how you show respect. I personally rate Samsung higher than Apple. Everything relating to US becomes a super thing because it belongs to a super power nation.
