Deadline Day
The 31st
of august has started and for football fans it is indeed a very important day.
This is the last day for transfer of players between Football clubs around
Europe and America. This deadline is set by the FIFA and its current president
is Sepp Blatter. The second biggest body in the footballing world is UEFA
currently lead by Micheal Platini, a french football legend. Football
definitely is the biggest sport the world follows and takes part in. The last 5
years in Pakistan has been very essential considering the change of perception
towards football. The decline in the national cricket team and broadcasting
through Indian owned sports channel, the domestic English football (English
Premier League) and the European competitions has caught the eyes of majority
especially the youth. With me its different. I have been following football
since i was 10 because Fifa was my favourite game of all time and it still is.
Fans here now are passionate about football as much they are in England and
rest of the Europe. Manchester United has the most number of fans all over the
world. It is currently the biggest football club in the world. Football can not
be ignored today. The billionaires around the world find it very interesting
including the Sheikhs of Abu Dhabi who recently bought Manchester City to give
competition to Manchester United. After the capture of the club in 2009 they
invested heavily in the squad, more than a billion dollars to bring players and
improve the management of the club. It all payed off last season (2011-12) when
they won the English Premier League under the noses of Manchester United. The
owner of a West London Club, Chelsea, Roman Abrahimovic is a Russian
Billionaire. PSG (Paris Saint Germain), a football club in Paris was bought by
Qatari business tycoons last year. The commercialization and investment of
massive money has created more fans but also is destroying some parts of
football. The players seems to have no loyalty. They play for money mostly. The
club the legacy is no longer important to them. Younger players are given less
chance and a huge amount of talent gets wasted when you do not have proper
trainers for guidance and development. My love for football is always going to
stay young no matter what. For me football is the best thing that has happened
to to Sport history. You put all the sports on one side and Football on
another, the Football side is always going to be much heavier.
